Experience
Life at House on Straight Street
When you arrive at House on Straight Street, you will be welcomed with care and patience. We understand that many people come to us in physical and emotional pain, and our goal is to help you feel safe and supported right away.
Many people will arrive at HOSS simply wanting to end their addiction. They will simply want to be sober; they will want to be “normal”. They want the pain to stop, and may see HOSS as a way to get them clean and a little closer to Jesus. We welcome that as a starting point. Our goal is that upon exiting, staying sober is an assumed part of their larger plan. They will develop a conviction to pursue a purpose, and knowing they cannot fulfill it without sobriety, sobriety becomes a means to a greater end. Our world is broken; it has been broken since the Fall. We are not God. We can only do so much. But we are instruments of His will, and we have the power to affect change from our respective little corners of the Earth.
We Are Here For You And Are Glad You Are With Us
From Arrival to Restoration, You Are Not Alone
Every effort is made to ensure safety, comfort, hydration, nourishment, and immediate medical attention if needed. Recognizing that many arrive carrying pain, fear, or distrust, our staff meets each resident where they are, offering dignity, encouragement, prayer, and Christ-centered love. As healing begins and clarity returns, residents are gradually welcomed into a supportive community where they are known, cared for, and reminded that they truly belong.

This is part of building discipline, character, and a mindset of serving others.

We value both growth and healthy connection.
Life After the Program
Our goal is to foster relationships knowing that although all residents will ultimately exit the community with HOSS no longer being their place of residence, that they know they are forever part of the community with HOSS being taken with them in their hearts.
As residents progress through the program, they actively engage in completing the 12 steps while beginning to mentor newer residents, reinforcing personal growth through service and accountability. With continued progress, residents earn limited communication privileges and participate in off-site recovery meetings alongside staff, helping them reconnect with the broader recovery community.
Throughout this stage, strong emphasis is placed on preparing for life after the program by building lasting support systems, including involvement in a local church, establishing a sponsorship relationship, and pursuing meaningful employment to support long-term stability and continued recovery.
