Our Purpose

We Believe in Spiritual Warfare and See Addiction as One of the Tools of the Enemy

We believe that we live in a complex world, beautiful and tough, awesome in wonder yet unrelenting. We believe in spiritual warfare and see addiction as one of the tools of the enemy. Drugs and alcohol are insidious, and to the addict, ultimately enslaving. We are here to assist the Holy Spirit in breaking those bonds and restoring our loved ones to their proper purpose in life. Alcoholics and addicts are not bad people; they are unwell people suffering from an illness; their malady does not have to be the defining characteristic of their lives.

Although the disease of addiction is undoubtedly mental and physical, we believe the root of the problem is spiritual. We are soldiers on the battlefield of life, building the children of God on the foundation of their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. HOSS is focused on removing addiction as the obstacle from a person’s true purpose, walking with them from comfort to conviction for life.

Transformation

How Do We Get Someone From Comfort to Conviction?

We do not exist to get people sober, mention Jesus, and send them on their way. We want roots to grow within our residents that will lead to a fundamental change in their life on a foundational level. We change priorities.
from Genesis to Revelation

Jesus Before the World. Scripture Before Society. Others Before Ourselves.

We lead by example, and hold strong to balancing our emulation of Christ in grace and truth. Love is not strictly empathy, and it is definitely not empathy to the extreme of excluding truth, growth, and responsibility. The love of Christ is explained in the Bible – it is multifaceted and pure. We engage the entire Bible, and work off holistic interpretations of Scripture, acknowledging that each word is there for a reason, and any conclusion that ignores or dismisses portions of the Good Book is a conclusion made in error. We understand that humans are not robots. We encourage free thought and acknowledge there are differing theological stances that are well within the bounds of sound doctrine and without heresy. We do our best to honor Scripture as our authority, from Genesis to Revelation.
